Domaine Charles Audoin Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Domaine Charles Audoin is based in the village of Marsannay at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, a cool climate appellation famous for stylish, high-toned reds made from Pinot Noir. Now managed by second-generation winemaker Cyril Audoin, the domaine employs traditional farming and vinification practices to craft expressive wines that convey a sense of place.

Audoin’s 2013 Bourgogne Rouge is an excellent example of the house style - by law, a wine labeled “Bourgogne” can contain grapes harvested anywhere in the region of Burgundy, but Audoin’s offering is sourced exclusively from the delimited subregion of Marsannay. Because of this, Audoin’s Bourgogne Rouge possesses typicity and concentration rarely seen at the regional level, leaping out of the glass with aromas of red and black fruits, exotic spices, and earthy undertones.

On the palate, these flavors are framed by racy acidity and moderate tannins, making this wine a natural partner with a wide variety of dishes including roast chicken, pork tenderloin, grilled salmon, and mushroom pasta.
