Beringer is Napa Valley’s most iconic winery with 145 years of rich history by establishing many ‘firsts’ as leaders in the wine industry. Founded in 1876 by brothers, Jacob and Frederick Beringer, the winery was one of the first to use gravity-fed facilities, hand-dug cellars, and caves. This uncompromised quality in winemaking for over a century established Beringer as the first and only winery to have both a red and white wine named #1 Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator. Beringer also led the growth and awareness of Napa Valley, with the first public tours in 1934 and has remained a favorite destination for travelers from around the world. As the oldest continuously operating winery, Beringer remains steadfast as a leader in winemaking and hospitality with the pioneering spirit of its founders.
The near-perfect 2016 growing season started early, saw ideal weather conditions throughout and wrapped up as the valley's first significant fall rainstorm arrived on October 14. Thanks to a relatively steady and mild July and August and then a series of warm days at the end of the growing season, vineyards progressed to perfect ripeness.
Tasting Notes: Blending fruit from valley and mountain vineyards delivers classic Cabernet earthiness and flavors of ripe red fruit and sweet black currant are joined by blueberry, wild blackberry, ripe Asian plum and dried cherry. The oak spice, mocha, and espresso in Beringer Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 complete the flavor profile. Silky tannins offer a plush mouthfeel and a lingering aftertaste.
