Tenuta di Biserno is a joint venture between Marchese Lodovico Antinori, founder of the legendary Tuscan estates Ornellaia and Masseto, and his brother Marchese Piero Antinori, President of the world-famous Antinori wine company. With the help of legendary oenologist Michel Rolland, Tenuta di Biserno crafts highly rated wines from prized vineyards in Tuscany’s Upper Maremma that regularly sell for upwards of $200 per bottle, making their entry-level bottling “Insoglio del Cinghiale” an outstanding value in its category.

Checking in at 32% Syrah with dollops of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot rounding out the blend, the 2018 Insoglio del Cinghiale displays lifted aromas of blackberries, plums, and a hint of oak spice. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with youthful freshness, fine rounded tannins, and a smooth finish. The peppery notes coming from the Syrah make this red the ideal accompaniment to game dishes, such as the Tuscan wild boar cinghiale (after which the wine is named), venison, and roast quail.
