1999 Chateau Beychevelle Grand Vin is a Fourth Growth estate according to the Bordeaux classification of 1855. Located in the St.- Julian appellation, the estate’s history dates back to the Middle Ages, when its wine was shipped to England and Germany.
A reasonably fine effort from Beychevelle, this dark ruby/purple-colored 1999 reveals an attractive cedary, spice box, black cherry, and cassis-scented nose, medium body, decent weight on the mid-palate, and moderate tannin in an elegant, supple finish.
