Domaine Leflaive White Wine

This Macon Verze from Domaine Leflaive, one of the most respected names in white Burgundy, shows a beautiful balance of creamy, harmonious texture and delicate floral notes, with flavors of juicy peach, crisp apple tart, and a hint of lemon cake. The acidity is vibrant and refreshing, and the oak treatment is subtle, with just a whisper of baking spice on a long, refined finish. It is drinking well now and should continue to improve through 2028. Only 2,125 cases were imported.

White Burgundy, or Bourgogne Blanc, refers to the white wines produced in France's Burgundy region, mostly from Chardonnay grapes. These wines are known for their elegance, complexity, and reflection of terroir, and they range from crisp and mineral driven to rich and creamy depending on where in Burgundy they come from. At the northern end, Chablis produces steely, high acid wines with notes of green apple, citrus, and wet stone, often unoaked. Farther south in the Cote de Beaune, you find some of the world's most prestigious white wines, from villages like Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, and Chassagne-Montrachet, with layers of ripe orchard fruit, buttery texture, and subtle oak influence. The Maconnais region, home to Macon-Verze and Pouilly-Fuisse, offers excellent value with approachable wines that still show bright fruit, creamy texture, and a touch of minerality.

White Burgundy pairs well with roasted chicken, seafood, creamy pastas, and soft cheeses.
