Cakebread Cellars was founded in 1973 by Jack and Dolores Cakebread in Rutherford, Napa Valley. Jack Cakebread was a photographer who photographed Napa Valley in 1972 and ended up buying land. The winery is now run by their sons, Dennis and Brian Cakebread. Their Napa Valley Chardonnay is one of California's most consistent selling Chardonnays and one of the most-ordered wines in U.S. restaurants.
Tasting notes: aromas of ripe golden apple, white peach, and oak. On the palate, apple and pear characters balanced by fresh acidity. The wine is barrel-fermented and goes through partial malolactic fermentation, giving it texture without being heavy or overly buttery.
